The street is the stage in Dungannon next month (15th August) when the town stages its first ever ‘Battle of the Buskers’.
Musicians, singers, bands and solo artists are being invited to showcase their musical talent in the new competition devised by Mid Ulster District Council in partnership with Dungannon Regeneration Partnership and Dungannon Traders Association.
£1,000 in prize money is up for grabs for 1st Overall Winner with 2nd Best Busker receiving the great experience of producing a promotional video sponsored by Dungannon Enterprise Centre, while £100 prizes are also on offer in other categories, including best young performer and Spirit of Battle of the Buskers.
Launching the event, Chair of the Council, Councillor Linda Dillon, said:
“This is a really great new event for Dungannon which will bring a mix of musical talent to the town centre and create a buzz for visitors and shoppers throughout the afternoon.
“I’m delighted once again that the Council, local business and traders are working together to promote Dungannon as one of Mid Ulster’s key shopping destinations”.
Each performer will be allocated a pitch to perform on the day, along with an opportunity to perform on stage in the central event space in Market Square.
