Busking Winners 2015
THE KNIGHTS from Dungannon took the top prize and ‘Best Busker’ title at Saturday’s ‘Battle of the Buskers’ in Dungannon.

They were among twenty buskers who made the streets their stage on Saturday during the town’s first ever busking event, which was organised by Mid Ulster District Council in partnership with Dungannon Regeneration Partnership and Dungannon Traders Association

Gavin Corey from Magherfelt was named runn-up, winning an opportunity to produce a promotional video sponsored by Dungannon Enterprise Centre, 13 year old Hugo Boitel-Gill was named best young performer and Darryl Quinn was awarded the ‘Spirit of Battle of the Buskers’.

Chair of the Council, Councillor Linda Dillon, presented the prizes:

“Meeting the buskers was a real pleasure and while we had to have winners, all of them had unique styles, and showed great flair and musical ability. They interacted well with the shoppers and visitors all afternoon, and brought a real buzz to the town centre. When you add the street performers and the other entertainment for kids, the strong buy-in we had from our local traders, it’s easy to see why the town centre was packed. The event was a real success, one I hope we’ll be able to build on in years to come”.

Judges on the day were Andrea Begley, winner of the BBC1 talent show, The Voice, Raymond Stewart of Stewart’s Music Shop, and musicians, Alan Jardine and Robert Kirkland.
